Minutes of the Board of Directors meeting: January 8, 2008
Present: Katie Angle, Lisa Austin, Mike Beadles, Mary Derks, Garry Glubka, Pete Hawkins, Kelly Hazel, Laurie Holm,
Absent: Charles Breer
Also present: Doug NelsonMINUTES from December 2, 2007 were approved with additions.
REPORTS
- TREASURER: No report. Mary Derks received the PO mail from Doug Nelson.
- NEWSLETTER: Doug Nelson commented on the quality of the Jan/Feb issue with its 20 pages, new ads and crisp, clear pictures.
- MEMBERSHIP: No update
- RECOGNITION CORNER: Lisa Austin and Steve Scott for the brochure update, Patt Seleen for the Bike Atlas, Hosteling International for distributing TCBC brochures in conjunction with Ironman distribution, and Paul Huntington for his past service on the Board of Directors
- OUTREACH UPDATE: Lisa Austin shared the Leadership Project from SBAC and info about BAM (Bike Around MN) to be held Aug 20-24, starting from Granite Falls.
BUSINESS
- WELCOME to Laurie Holm as a new Board member. The Board approved her appointment to fill the remainder of 2008 for Paul Huntington’s seat.
- POST MINUTES: Effective immediately, the preliminary draft of the minutes will be sent to the voting board and treasurer only prior to the meeting.
- NEW TCBC BROCHURE: The Board approved the $916 expense for 6000 copies in color.
- ADVERTISING COORDINATOR: The Board accepted the Advertising Coordinator Job Description and Agreement with amendments. This is an auto-renewing contract offered to Kristine Poelzer.
- ANNUAL RECOGNITION DINNER: The Board approved the nomination of the two volunteers of the year: Steve Scott and Richard Franco for their respective work on the newsletter/atlas and ride statistics.
- RIDE LEADER TRAINING: A motion was made and passed to keep the cost of the training at $40 with a full refund for leading four rides during the remainder of the 2008 season. The refund for fewer rides led was eliminated.
- RIDE SCHEDULING UPDATE: Mike Beadles reported that the committee found a ride scheduling system from the Vancouver Bicycle Club for $155, one time cost, that will be ready for the spring season and ride leader’s training on April 5th. The membership and mileage data bases can be interfaced at a later date.
- WOW 2008: Discussion included locations, keep in August (drier), retain group riding style, and a need for more volunteers. Julie Kosbab has ideas for routes in Winona. Mary Derks will look into developing a survey for more opinions from club members.
OTHER BUSINESS: Doug Nelson reserved the dates for this year’s events at the Snail Lake shelter - Memorial ride May 24, Watermelon July 4 and the All Club ride on August 30.
