Mad Town Miles (MTM)

Fri.-Sun., July 31 - August 1, 2010

in Madison Wisconsin

Mad Town Miles (MTM) weekend events

All the TCBC rides will leave from the Best Western (650 Grand Canyon Drive) which is ideally located with its convenient biking connections.

FRIDAY

If you arrive by 2:30 on Friday you can join a 26 mile ride that goes off to the west with an option to bike a more northerly 31 mile loop.

Which should get you back in time to join those who might arrive later for a 6:30 PM 18 mile “familiarization tour” that will travel on roads and trails as it swings by the Capital, provides a stop at Monona Terrace where an elevator takes riders down to the trail leading through the arboretum.

The 8 PM dinner is two miles away at Sprechers Pub (1262 John Q. Hammons Drive) where Anthony has a room reserved for our group. Those who arrive early can enjoy a beverage on the patio.

SATURDAY

On Saturday at 10 AM riders will pedal off on a 42 mile southern loop down to Paolie that offers an ambitious 10 mile option. Or you might consider joining the Bombay Bikers who have a couple of remote starting rides at 8 and 9.

Our 6:30 dinner is three miles away where Scott will lead us to the back room of Babes at 5614 Schroeder Rd. Come early and play a round of miniature golf at the nearby course or (if you’re not night “riding”) stay to golf or dessert at Michaels Frozen Custard.

We'll be guided by Bombay's president, Greg Hyer, on an 8:30 PM Saturday night ride (bring your lights). The relatively short 8 - 10 mile route will take us to the University of Wisconsin Union on Lake Mendota for some famous Babcock Hall Ice Cream. The Terrace is famous - they'll be some music - and with a short stay it should be a great "adventure".

SUNDAY

Sunday’s 9:30 AM 40 mile in town loop goes through the scenic southern suburbs on the Capital City Trail before circumnavigating Lake Monona and returning via the impressive, but now familiar arboretum. Some of you will be “Bombay Cycling” and if you haven't done the Friday afternoon loop that, too, could be an option.

MONDAY

Monday’s 11 AM Penn Cycle sponsored Trek tour is at the Waterloo plant (at 801 W Madison St). A walk through this large manufacturing facility will prove to be a fitting conclusion to our MTM weekend.
