Outreach Ride: Tour de Hugo
Saturday, September 23, 2017
Tour de Hugo is a lovely fall ride with five mileage options: 70, 50, 35, 20, and 6. It includes a lot of nice folks ringing cowbells, a rest stop to get a great piece of cake and lunch at the ride’s end. Registration for adults is $30 until September 1, when the fee goes to $40. Registration and ride details may be found at: www.tourdehugo.com. Registration is available on the day of the ride, but riders are encouraged to register in advance or plan additional time at arrival.
Proceeds from this ride support park improvements in the City of Hugo.
Check in begins at 6:30 a.m., which is likely to be pretty darn dark. The 70-milers are supposed to leave at 7:00 a.m., about the time of sunrise. Plan accordingly.
The start times for the routes are: 7:00 a.m./70 miles; 8:00 a.m. /50 miles; 8:45 a.m./35 miles; 9:00 a.m./20 miles; and 8:30 a.m./6 miles. This includes lunch, a t-shirt, a bandanna, and a ride medallion. The first 200 registrants get a bag full of stuff provided by the ride sponsors.
The ride starts at the Hugo Lions Park/Hugo City Hall, 5524 Upper 146th Street, Hugo, MN 55038. Heading north on I35E from St. Paul, exit Frenchman Road (exit 123A), go east (right), to Hwy 61, turn left, and head north about 300 yards. Turn left on Upper 146th and make a quick right to find the parking lot. Your leaders will split up and do C and BC paces for the 35 and/or 50 mile rides. Choose any route and ride with whom and at whatever pace you wish. As with all Outreach Rides, TCBC members are not covered by TCBC insurance but can get mileage credit. The ride leader will be there after 7:30 a.m., so if you don’t sign in then, email Miriam your TCBC member number and mileage. Look for a silver Prius at the ride start to sign in.
