Glubby's Fat Tire Ride (GFTR) 2017

October 6-8th, 2017

Glubby’s Fat Tire Ride Weekend is just outside of Cable, WI, on Fri-Sun, October 6,7,8. This is the best time for mountain bikers to enjoy the Chequamegon Area Mountain Bike Association (CAMBA) Off-Road Bike Trail System. There are 300 miles of marked and mapped routes for mountain bikers. Check them out at CAMBA's website: www.cambatrails.org 

LODGING: Make your own lodging reservations at Lake Owen Resort: #715-798-3603. The cost for a room is $70 per night, if two nights are booked. The cost is $95 if you only book one night. Credit card will be charged at time of booking for special events like this. If full, there are also rooms available in Hayward.

GATHERING AND MEALS: Friday night we will be going into Cable for Pizza at the Rivers Eatery. On Saturday we’ll be having a Mexican night potluck at Lake Owen resort, further instruction on what to bring will be emailed to all participants.

FRIDAY RIDE: Oct. 6th, Depart at 1:30PM, from the Seeley Cluster at the OO trail head, we will be riding north to Telemark and carpooling back to the start or doing a loop ride back to your car if the car pool doesn’t work out for everyone. Then we’ll meet at the Rivers Eatery in Cable WI at 6:30 to 7PM for dinner and socializing.

SATURDAY RIDES: Oct. 7th, Depart at 10 AM from the Namekagon Town Hall Trailhead. There will be A/B rides from here including the Rock Lake Single Track. Bring a lot of water and snacks for the trail, as we will be out for a while, this is our longest day. Bring a lawn chair and a cooler with lunch and a beverage for after the ride.

SUNDAY RIDES: Oct. 8th, Depart at 10 AM from the OO Trailhead. (A/B Level)

Youth Deer Hunt: There will be a youth hunt on the 7th and 8th, so be sure to wear some blaze orange or bright colors. We’ve had no issues with this in the past.

New Rules this year: All riders must be current TCBC Members and sign a Waiver before each ride to be insured by TCBC, otherwise you will not be insured!

If you would, please fill this out so we have contact info for you in case something should happen. Please fill out 2 copies---carry one with you on your bike and put the other in a sealed envelope and I'll collect them on Friday and return them (unopened) on Sunday. I will also have blank copies in case you forget yours.

CAMBA: Get free maps of the 300-mile CAMBA trail system by joining this organization. At the same time, you'll be supporting the wonderful organization that maps, marks, and maintains these outstanding trails. This is money very well spent! www.cambatrails.org has complete details.
