Newsletter – Doug Nelson

Doug will put the minor’s policy in the Newsletter.  Diane will provide a recap of the awards banquet.  March/April will be a combined version for the first time.

Volunteer Activities – Mike Kubes

An Events Coordinator is needed, in addition to a coordinator for the Ironman.  We will add a new slide soliciting an Events Coordinator.

Minors Policy

There was an involved discussion regarding minors riding with the club.  Insurance and liability issues impact the decisions related to this issue.  The topic has been tabled for another meeting.

A TCBC Minors Policy was proposed It was worded as follows:  Minors (persons under 18 years of age) are welcome on TCBC rides and do not have to pay the guest fee.  If the minor is a TCBC household member, a parent or legal guardian must have signed a yearly waiver for this minor.  If the minor is not a TCBC household member, a parent or legal guardian must sign a waiver for this minor for each TCBC ride in which the minor participates.  All other rules that apply to TCBC adult members, such as the requirement to wear a bike helmet, will apply to all minors on TCBC rides.

(If minor comes with a signed waiver, it is OK).  A motion was made by Fran to accept the above stated wording.  The motion was seconded by Gina.  The motion passed.

Other Business

North Star Festival – Hugh Gitlin

The North Star Bicycle Festival is June 17-21, 2015. Promote recreational riding and group riding. North Star would like cross promotion with TCBC.  They intend to put our rides on their web site.  They continue to seek sponsors.  A voucher to ride in a TCBC ride that week will be available to guest riders on the Festival web site.  Mike will set up the TCBC booth at the Festival. Kasey will attend the Festival February planning meeting as the TCBC board representative.

Awards Banquet - Diane

About 150 are registered to date.  We anticipate approximately breaking even.  There was a brief discussion about considering holding the awards banquet later in the year with the hope that the attendance would be greater.  There were not any decisions made in this regard.

Ride Marshal Vests Mike Kubes

Our current ride marshal vests do not indicate “TCBC”.  We should consider getting new ones so riders know it is TCBC providing this volunteer function at activities such as the Ironman.

Advertising

The ad for the Watermelon Ride got into Have Fun Biking.

Next Meeting - Diane

Our next meeting will not be on the first Tuesday of the month due to several board members being on vacation.  The meeting is scheduled for March 10th.  Will have a closed strategy meeting prior to that meeting. The 4:30 – 6:30 meeting is open only to board members.

Adjourn Meeting – All

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Kasey.  The motion was seconded by Pete.  The motion passed.  The meeting adjourned at 815 pm.
