Member Discounts At Local Bike Shops

Get discounts and save money when you use your TCBC membership card at local bike shops! Shop at County Cycles, Erik's Bike Shop, Now Bikes & Fitness, and Penn Cycle, and use your card - their discounts are listed below. Other bike shops may offer you a discount too - find out by showing your TCBC card. In fact, show your card every time you shop, as you just never know what special pricing may come your way.

Clip and Carry the mailing label from the TCBC ACTIVITY NEWS that is mailed to your home. The label serves as your TCBC membership card as your name, address, and member expiration date are printed there. If your membership expires 7/31/06, and you renew when a reminder notice arrives, then only once a year clip the label from the August issue, as it's good for a year.

The priority points of safe bicycling involve service and products that can be purchased at local bike shops. Safe bicycling is foremost on bicyclists' minds, especially when it comes to group rides as the safety of one bicyclist is just as important as the safety of all bicyclists riding together. Now is a good time to make certain that you and your bike provide the safety that is needed.

  1. Maintain a bike with all up-to-date and working parts: including annual tuneup, good tires, and brakes that work.
  2. Ride a bicycle that fits correctly. Fit is not meant by just the size of the frame, but the measurement of seat to leg length, handlebar width in correct ratio to your shoulder width, and also seat height for the correct extension of your leg to make use of the power your body has to offer.
  3. Wear bicycle-related clothing that wicks away perspiration, supports leg muscles, and provides comfort such as padded bike shorts, and jerseys with back pockets to keep items needed - like energy bars - easy to get to and are bright colors to make you visible to others.
  4. Wear a helmet that provides correct head and forehead coverage, and has more than ample air vents and wicking pads that keep you cool.
  5. Accessories such as pump to attach to bike frame, tire irons, repair kit and extra tube in case of a flat, water bottle and bottle cages, and handlebar bell to ring to alert others.
  6. A supply of energy bars and drinks that sustain you with a continuous level of energy, no matter what the distance or terrain of the route.
IMPORTANT: To receive the discount from the four stores noted below, TCBC members need to present, prior to the sale, their current TCBC membership card listing an active (not expired) date.
