1 MON 9:30 AM B/C 29 mi. Mendota to Eat Street. Depart from Big Rivers West Trailhead parking lot, just northwest of the intersection of Highway 13 and Mendota Heights Road in Mendota Heights. (Closest Googleable location – Lloyd’s BBQ, 1455 Mendota Heights Road, Mendota Heights, a half-block east.). An easy, flat, all-trail ride with great lunch stops. The ride will cross the Mendota bridge, follow the Minnehaha Trail around Harriet and Calhoun (with a rest stop at Lake Harriet band shell), go east on the Greenway and exit on Nicollet for lunch at one of the diverse ethnic restaurants on “Eat Street” (Nicollet Ave.). Each Monday, we’ll choose a different restaurant. Then back to the Greenway, on to West River Road, Fort Snelling and back to the trailhead. 1 MON 10:00 AM B/C 31 mi. RIVERS' RETURN. Depart from Erik's Bike Shop, 2059 Snelling Ave. N. across from Har Mar Mall in Roseville. The route goes to St. Paul via Como Avenue and crosses the river on the Wabasha Bridge. It returns up the rivers by the Lilydale Road and Big Rivers Trail, over the Mendota Bridge to Fort Snelling and on to Minnehaha Park for a rest stop. From there it continues on up the river to the Stone Arch Bridge and finally back to Roseville on the Minneapolis Diagonal Trail. 1 MON 10:30 AM B/C 30 mi. Pink Express. Depart from County Cycles 2700 Lexington Ave, Roseville 55113. A scenic ride passing 3 lakes. Rest stop is at Caribou Coffee in White Bear Lake. Faster riders welcome. Leader will ride 12 mph and not slower. People who ride slower than 12 mph will need to be self sufficient. Rain cancels the ride. 1 MON 6:00 PM A/B 25/30 mi. Summer Break (Mendota Heights). Depart from Mendota Plaza, located 1/2 mile east of 35E on Hwy 110 and Dodd Road (750 Hwy 110). Three river crossings with a regroup at Minnehaha Falls are features of this ride. Recover from the weekend rides on this route which is mainly flat, but with a few gradual climbs. 2 TUE 9:30 AM A/B 26 - 73 mi. Gateway Express. Depart from Maplewood Community Center, 2100 White Bear Ave., Maplewood, MN 55109. Please park on the south end of the parking lot. Water and bathrooms are available at the community center. This ride features the Gateway Trail, a scenic, shaded, and little wind trail. The ride has extensions into scenic Washington County. The easiest ride is doing the Gateway Trail out to Pine Point and back-26 mi. A 73 mi. route to Osceola, WI., or other shorter routes. Ride leader chooses which extensions to ride. We will go through parts of Elk River, Big Lake, Ramsey, Zimmerman, St. Micheal, and Zimmerman, also Sherburne County Wildlife Refuge. 2 TUE 6:00 PM A/B 36/33/29/23 mi. THE ACAPULCO RIDE (Stillwater). Depart from The Valley Ridge Mall, Stillwater. From I-694, go east 6.5 mi on Hwy 36. Left on Washington Ave. Prompt right on frontage road 1/4 mile to the Acapulco Restaurant, 1240 West Frontage Road, 55082. ***Note earlier departure. The Acapulco Ride features a flat beginning and end, with Afton's beautiful hills in between. As always, the leader will set an easy pace for the first three miles to ensure a proper warm-up for all. We encourage riders to form multiple groups based on ability level. Doing so offers participants a better chance to enjoy a "true" group experience. After all, isn't that why we do club rides? Don't park in The Coffee Grounds lot but on nearby streets or in the Como Lutheran Church lot at the SW corner of Hamline & Hoyt. 3 WED 10:00 AM B/C 42 mi. LITTLE CANADA: STILLWATER. Depart from The Taste of Scandinavia, 2900 Rice Street, 1/2 mile north of County Road C. We will ride east from Little Canada to the St. Croix River at Stillwater. After a rest stop for coffee and pastries at the Daily Grind in Stillwater there will be a climb up to Pine Point for another rest. From there it's down the Gateway and County Road C back to The Taste of Scandinavia. The leader will average 12 MPH, but not on the climb out of Stillwater to Pine Point. 3 WED 10:00 AM A/B 32/39/51/62 mi. Cruisin' From CARS (Mounds View). Depart from CARS Bike Shop, 2661 West County Road I, Mounds View, MN 55112 - Behind the Burger King on the SW corner of County Road I and County Road 10 (not to be confused with US 10). Take a brisk ride to Forest Lake and a rest stop at Kodiak Coffee with the 51/62 mile routes. Or, short circuit the route and skip Forest Lake with the 32/39 mile routes. These are cruising routes with minimal stop signs, stop lights or turns and no paths - mostly open road once we get out 6 or 7 miles. As always, the route is quite scenic and we go past lotsa lakes. Once the route "settles in", a few optional ride extensions will be added to the two longer routes. Park in the CARS Bike Shop lot. Self sufficient B riders are very, very welcome. 3 WED 4:15 PM B 13 or 19 mi. Prelude to SLP'ing Out. Depart from Erik's Bike Shop, OVERFLOW parking lot located at 2965 Texas Ave S, 55426, in the Texa-Tonka shopping center, ACROSS FROM THE SHOP at the intersection of Minnetonka Blvd and Texas Ave (east of 169 by about a mile on Minnetonka Blvd) in St Louis Park. I am helping Mike Beadles out this year to continue this ride for those that want to log 40-50 miles on a Wednesday evening (this ride plus the 6:00 ride). This is a short and easy ride primarily on bike paths with easy terrain (no hills). Ride should conclude around 5:40pm in time to join Mike’s 6:00 ride at the same location allowing some socialization with the 6:00 riders. This ride is mapless with extremely easy routes. If Mike Beadles changes his 6:00pm ride start time, this ride’s start time will also change so that there is an hour and 45 minutes difference between the two rides. If its’ raining, just finished a heavy downpour, or severe weather is imminent this ride will be cancelled. Please feel free to call the ride leader if in doubt. There will be two distance options this year. One will be the same as last year (13 miles). A second option will be a slightly longer 19 mile ride (for those that want more miles) that will add a leg down to the Free Wheel Bike location on the Greenway trail and back and then continue on the 13 mile route. Depart from Erik's Bike Shop's OVERFLOW Parking lot located about 2965 Texas Ave S, 55426 - across from the shop located at Minnetonka Blvd and Texas Ave (between 100 & 169) in St Louis Park. A popular ride series. Note change in start time as sunset gets earlier this month. We'll ride mostly on paved trails, painted bicycle lanes and/or low-traffic roads in the west metro area. The goal is to have a different map for each ride. Come ride with me at the B pace and you will definitely not get lost! 3 WED 6:00 PM A 25-40 mi. Midtown Challenge Group- Mapless. Depart from Midtown Bike Center on the Midtown Greenway 10th Ave South and 29th Street Minneapolis. Various routes and distance as the days grow shorter. Some are flat and senic some are hilly with multiple turns. but none are boring and neither is the group. We ride at an "A" pace and will work to keep the group together. Wind and weather dictate distance and route. Come prepared with a bike in good working condition and you will enjoy the workout you receive. 4 THU 8:30 AM B 52/72 mi. Thursdays on the Cannon. Depart from Welch Village Trailhead (Goodhue County 7, three miles south of Hwy. 61). We'll ride two beautiful trails, the Cannon River Valley trail and the Hay Creek trail. We’ll start off with a round-trip to Cannon Falls, then on to Red Wing and continue to the end of the Hay Creek Trail (Goodhue Pioneer Trail), then back to Welch for 52 miles. For the optional 20 miles extra, choose between a round trip to Cannon or Red Wing. I will cancel if the forecast the night before predicts 50% or more chance of rain – call me if in doubt. Routes will vary weekly with weather and wind direction being the determining factor. Map is available for these rides. Some routes can have multiple turns, hills, traffic and some just flat out flat. But NONE have boring ride leaders... Routes are designed to take you on different combination of roads and trails in the metro area each week and rarely repeating the same route, unless it is the only map I have on hand. This beautiful scenic route takes us out to Lake Elmo past Lake Jane, and by the Lake Elmo Airport going as far east to Stagecoach Trail before heading back into Oakdale. 4 THU 6:00 PM A/B 22/30 mi. THIGHS, SIGHS, AND CRIES. Depart from parking lot in front of Woody’s Grill at Shady Oak Rd and City West Pkwy in Eden Prairie. A longtime western metro favorite. Join us as we chase each other up and down the rolling hills of Eden Prairie and Minnetonka. A great hill training ride, with shorter option. Self-sufficient B riders welcome. You’ll sigh and cry but your thighs will thank you!? NOTE: Restroom facilities at SuperAmerica on Shady Oak Rd across from Woody’s. Starting from the Elm Creek Park Chalet (take County 81 to park entrance at Elm Creek Blvd), we'll head east on the North Hennepin Corridor bike trail to the Coon Rapids Dam, cross over and head south on bike trails following the Mississippi River to Webber Parkway where we'll hook up with bike trails along Victory Memorial Parkway west and south to Theodore Wirth Park. Then we'll follow the Luce Line trail west to Medicine Lake Park, north to French Regional Park and, eventually, Fish Lake Park. From there, we'll follow bike trails which lead us eventually back to our starting point. Ride is mainly on bike trails and passes through five parks, by three lakes, and the Mississippi River. 6 SAT 9:30 AM A/B 63-77 mi. Wisconsin Hills – Easing East to Elmwood. Depart from Hoffman Park on the eastern edge of River Falls, WI. Take I-94 east into WI; after Hudson take WI 35 south. Exit at County M, then go right 1/4 mile to Hoffman Park. Departing from River Falls, we head for Elmwood over the pleasant, rolling countryside, easing into El Paso, where our serenity is briefly interrupted by just one Big Hill, then roll into Elmwood, even descending the last few miles. At Elmwood, the un-calm can choose to ride an optional loop, with one or two more scenic, but Big Hills. Then we re-group and saunter along the valley toward Spring Valley, after which we return to River Falls via a northerly route. All should be mellow, especially if we are more “simmering” than “sauntering”. The heat index might be high, but so should the Wisconsin Riding Experience Index. This is a short and easy ride primarily on bike paths with easy terrain (no hills). 14 SUN 9:30 AM A/B 57-64 mi. Wisconsin Hills: Eagle Pass, El Paso, and Ellsworth. Depart from Hoffman Park on the eastern edge of River Falls, WI. Take I-94 east into WI; after Hudson take WI 35 south. Exit at County M, then go right 1/4 mile to Hoffman Park. Departing from River Falls, we climb several hills, prior to either traversing—or bypassing--“Eagle Pass”, then ease into El Paso. After a rest stop in El Paso, we head south down along the Rush River, then elevate up Austerland Hill on the way to Ellsworth, after which we barrel through Beldenville on the way back to Bearfoot Lane and Hoffman Park. In other words, we ride some of the nicest and most pleasant roads out of River Falls, while still enjoying the hills. Although this route is shorter than usual, did I mention there are hills? Austerland Hill features some 15% (but it’s scenic of course). We will likely ride at a Sunday pace. Find out why riding in Wisconsin is so enjoyable. Depart from CARS Bike Shop, 2661 West County Road I, Mounds View, MN 55112 - Behind the Burger King on the SW corner of County Road I and County Road 10 (not to be confused with US 10). Take a brisk ride to Forest Lake and a rest stop at Kodiak Coffee with the 51/62 mile routes. Or, short circuit the route and skip Forest Lake with the 32/39 mile routes. These are cruising routes with minimal stop signs, stop lights or turns and no paths - mostly open road once we get out 6 or 7 miles. As always, the route is quite scenic and we go past lotsa lakes. I am helping Mike Beadles out this year to continue this ride for those that want to log 40-50 miles on a Wednesday evening (this ride plus the 6:00 ride). This is a short and easy ride primarily on bike paths with easy terrain (no hills). Ride should conclude around 5:40pm in time to join Mike’s 6:00 ride at the same location allowing some socialization with the 6:00 riders. This ride is mapless with extremely easy routes. We'll start from the dam's westside parking lot (take highway 610 to Noble Pkwy; go north to 97th Ave; east to Russell Ave; then north to park entrance (Russell becomes W River Rd)). Then we'll cross over and head south on the Mississippi River Corridor bike trail, continue south to Weber Parkway, hook up with the Shingle Creek bike trail and head north, then east on bike trail paralleling 85th Ave, and back north again to our starting point. I am helping Mike Beadles out this year to continue this ride for those that want to log 40-50 miles on a Wednesday evening (this ride plus the 6:00 ride). This is a short and easy ride primarily on bike paths with easy terrain (no hills). Ride should conclude around 5:40pm in time to join Mike’s 6:00 ride at the same location allowing some socialization with the 6:00 riders. This ride is mapless with extremely easy routes. If Mike Beadles changes his 6:00pm ride start time, this ride’s start time will also change so that there is an hour and 45 minutes difference between the two rides. Depart from Trailhead Cycle and Fitness 763-712-0312, 11350 Aquilla, Champlin, MN SW corner of US169 and 114th St. behind the DQ and BP gas station. Park on street side of parking lot. Social ride no-one left behind, usually have halfway break and eat after ride at Hudy's Cafe or other options. This ride has options of passing thur Champlin, Brooklyn Park, Brooklyn Center, Maple Grove, Anoka, Coon Rapids, Andover and Osseo. 100's of different ride, we never know which one, may stay in one city or cover them all. 90% usually on trails. 31 WED 4:15 PM B 13 or 19 mi. Prelude to SLP'ing Out. Depart from Erik's Bike Shop, OVERFLOW parking lot located at 2965 Texas Ave S, 55426, in the Texa-Tonka shopping center, ACROSS FROM THE SHOP at the intersection of Minnetonka Blvd and Texas Ave (east of 169 by about a mile on Minnetonka Blvd) in St Louis Park. I am helping Mike Beadles out this year to continue this ride for those that want to log 40-50 miles on a Wednesday evening (this ride plus the 6:00 ride). This is a short and easy ride primarily on bike paths with easy terrain (no hills). Ride should conclude around 5:40pm in time to join Mike’s 6:00 ride at the same location allowing some socialization with the 6:00 riders. This ride is mapless with extremely easy routes. If Mike Beadles changes his 6:00pm ride start time, this ride’s start time will also change so that there is an hour and 45 minutes difference between the two rides. If its’ raining, just finished a heavy downpour, or severe weather is imminent this ride will be cancelled. Please feel free to call the ride leader if in doubt. There will be two distance options this year. One will be the same as last year (13 miles). A second option will be a slightly longer 19 mile ride (for those that want more miles) that will add a leg down to the Free Wheel Bike location on the Greenway trail and back and then continue on the 13 mile route. A nice scenic MAPLESS/NO DROP RIDE on the roads and trails with a few hills along the way for fun. A different route each week. All level of riders welcome!! 31 WED 6:00 PM B 30-21 mi. SLP'ing Out (St Louis Park). Depart from Erik's Bike Shop's OVERFLOW Parking lot located about 2965 Texas Ave S, 55426 - across from the shop located at Minnetonka Blvd and Texas Ave (between 100 & 169) in St Louis Park. A popular ride series. Note change in start time as sunset gets earlier this month. We'll ride mostly on paved trails, painted bicycle lanes and/or low-traffic roads in the west metro area. The goal is to have a different map for each ride. Come ride with me at the B pace and you will definitely not get lost! 31 WED 6:00 PM A 25-40 mi. Midtown Challenge Group- Mapless. Depart from Midtown Bike Center on the Midtown Greenway 10th Ave South and 29th Street Minneapolis. Various routes and distance as the days grow shorter. Some are flat and senic some are hilly with multiple turns. but none are boring and neither is the group. We ride at an "A" pace and will work to keep the group together. Wind and weather dictate distance and route. Come prepared with a bike in good working condition and you will enjoy the workout you receive.
