1 FRI 8:00 AM A 100mi New Years Day Century - 4th Annual -. Depart from Dunn Brothers Coffee East Lake Street and West River Road Minneapolis. Map may not be available for this ride as we will ride in the best direction for the wind and winter weather conditions. Sag support may be available, but not guaranteed. We plan to loop back to the start a couple of times so you might want to have a change of clothes along in case we are able to change. "A" riders ride as a group and we will not cancel. In extreme winter weather conditions we may shorten the route, but not likely. Bring a cellular phone, and lights along in case of mechanical or if we are delayed and finish at dark. Also plan in advance for a contact person to call if you find you are unable to keep pace with the "A" riders, have a mechanical, or unable to finish the route. 1 FRI 12:15 PM 12 mi. THE POLAR BEAR RIDE. Depart from The SW corner of the St. Paul Sears parking lot at I-94 and Marion Street. Please join us as we celebrate the start of another great cycling season on the one and only Polar Bear Ride. As our original "winter ride", it's been a staple of TCBC since the inception of our club in 1993. Before that however, this old classic was presented by TCBC's parent, The Minnesota Council of American Youth Hostels, dating back we believe to the sixties. Not so long ago, the Polar Bear was considered a novelty as the only ride on our schedule from October to April. How things have changed! The Details: We ride down Summit Avenue to the Mississippi and back. As always, we'll lunch at the Original Green Mill on Grand and Hamline during or after the ride. Want to celebrate the New Year but don't care to ride? Join us for lunch only at about 1:15 or so. Cross or mountain bikes recommended. Severe weather or impassable roads may cause cancellation.
