Departure from the Welch Village trailhead for the Red Wing trailhead, then return to Welch for a pit stop, and then on to Cannon Falls for lunch. Finally, on a full and satisfied stomach, we'll ride the 10 miles downhill back to Welch to complete the 40-mile portion. 1 THU 6:00 PM A/B 27/33+ mi. Stone Arch Bridge Ride. Depart from Lock and Dam parking lot underneath the west end of the Stone Arch Bridge, downtown Minneapolis. Go north on Portland from Washington Av, then just past West River Road down a short hill to the Locking and Dam parking lot. No facilities at start. Ride along the beautiful Mississippi River and through Fort Snelling park and back to downtown. Will be including a longer and hillier option incorporating parts of the TGF ride as daylight allows. From 694, go north on Victoria and east on Snail Lake Blvd. For Memorial Day Weekend, TCBC will again be holding an All-Club Memorial Ride to celebrate and remember TCBC members who have passed away over the years. We will name some of them briefly as a group before the ride. The ride itself, named after Paul Grisim in 1994, will not change unless the roads do. We will use the three basic routes we have been using for a few years. We think of this event as a great chance to socialize and start the summer together, and we hope you can join us. Last year’s event had over 140 people attending. We’ll be starting again at Snail Lake Park in Shoreview, the big pavilion at the top of the hill, NOT the parking lot by the beach. It has bathrooms, tables, and a big play area. Routes will again be northeast into Washington County. Mileages on the overlapping routes will be about 29, 48, and 63 miles, with the longest route running through Marine on St. Croix. We have reserved the big picnic shelter, with bathrooms and water, and riders are welcome to bring their own snacks or lunches to enjoy after the ride. There’s no need to make reservations for the ride. Please arrive in time to form into three groups for the leader briefing, which will start around 9:30 AM at the pavilion. 30 FRI C Sakatah Weekend. Depart from Sakatah State Trail in Faribault, MN. Friday, May 30th through Sunday, June 1, 2008. We begin our ride on the Sakatah State Trail in Faribault, MN at 10:00 am on Friday, May 30th. We will ride to Elysian, or Watertown, for lunch and return to Faribault by late afternoon. On Saturday our ride will begin at 10:00am at the visitor center in Elysian and continue west to the trailhead of the Red Jacket Trail in Mankato. We will have lunch and return to the visitor center in Elysian. The last day, Sunday, our ride will start at 10:00 at the Red Jacket Trailhead in Mankato on Riverfront Drive South, one block east of 169, we will continue on the Red Jacket Trail to Rapidan, MN. We will have lunch and pie at the Dam Store and continue via roads to Minneopa State Park and return by the Red Jacket Trail to Mankato. The ride is mostly trails with a few miles for country roads.
