Mounds View. If your level of skill at fixing a flat tire is less than you’d like it to be, consider signing up for the TCBC Bike U Tire Repair Clinic scheduled for Sunday, May 16, from 6 to 8 PM. The first half of the clinic will be a presentation of the causes and prevention of flat tires followed by a demonstration of wheel removal and proper tire repair technique. The second half will be a hands-on session with participants working on their own wheels under the guidance of experienced TCBC volunteers. To sign up for this clinic, which has a limit of 20, send an email to Pete Hawkins at pmh706atgmaildotcom. You will receive a reply giving you the exact location in Mounds View where the clinic will be held. If you do not receive a reply, you can assume that the clinic is full. A notice will be placed on the TCBC homepage when all spots have been taken. Participants should bring a clean front bicycle wheel (no rear wheels or complete bicycles indoors, please), along with tire removal tools, a patch kit, a pump, and a flat tube. If it’s a nice evening and there is sufficient time, we may move outdoors and practice removing the rear wheels of participant’s bicycles if they have brought them. There is ample parking at the facility. I hope that many of you will take advantage of this opportunity to learn how to deal with one of bicycling’s inevitabilities. It will inflate your confidence.
