1 SUN 11:00 AM A/B 45 mi. OUT PAST LORETTO. Depart from the Spring Gate Shopping Center at Hwy 100 and Duluth Street in Golden Valley. 2 MON 10:00 AM B/C 31 mi. RIVERS' RETURN. Depart from Erik's Bike Shop, 2059 Snelling Ave. N. across from Har Mar Mall in Roseville. The route goes to St. Paul via Como Avenue and crosses the river on the Wabasha Bridge. It returns up the rivers by the Lilydale Road and Big Rivers Trail, over the Mendota Bridge to Fort Snelling and on to Minnehaha Park for a rest stop. From there it continues on up the river to the Stone Arch Bridge and finally back to Roseville on the Minneapolis Diagonal Trail. Three river crossings with a regroup at Minnehaha Falls are features of this ride. Recover from the weekend rides on this route which is mainly flat, but with a few gradual climbs. 3 TUE 10:00 AM A/B 26-73 mi. Gateway Express. Depart from Maplewood Community Center, 2100 White Bear Ave., Maplewood, MN., 55109. Please park in the south end of the lot. Water and restrooms available at the community center. This ride features the Gateway Trail, a scenic, shaded, and little wind trail. The ride has extensions into scenic Washington County. The easiest ride is doing the Gateway Trail out to Pine Point and back-26 mi. A 73 mi. route to Osceola, WI., or other shorter routes. Ride leader chooses which extensions to ride. 3 TUE 6:00 PM B 18-28 mi. TWO SKYLINES. Depart from The Coffee Grounds at 1579 Hamline Ave. in Falcon Heights, that's just north of Hoyt on Hamline. Don't park in The Coffee Grounds lot but on nearby streets or in the Como Lutheran Church lot at the SW corner of Hamline & Hoyt. An urban ride featuring views of St. Paul & Minneapolis downtown skylines. Mileage will vary a bit from week-to-week depending on sunset time and weather. 3 TUE 6:15 PM A/B 36/33/29/23 mi. THE ACAPULCO RIDE (Stillwater). Depart from The Valley Ridge Mall, Stillwater. From I-694, go east 6.5 mi on Hwy 36. Left on Washington Ave. Prompt right on frontage road 1/4 mile to the Acapulco Restaurant, 1240 West Frontage Road, 55082. The Acapulco Ride features a flat beginning and end, with Afton's beautiful hills in between. As always, the leader will set an easy pace for the first three miles to ensure a proper warm-up for all. We encourage riders to form multiple groups based on ability level. Doing so offers participants a better chance to enjoy a "true" group experience. After all, isn't that why we do club rides? Each Wednesday, we will ride paved trails and city streets and county roads in Owatonna and surrounding area. On the route are several wind generators owned by local farmers. We will ride streets and trails south and west from Little Canada. This will include the Bus/Bike Transitway, East River Blvd, Crosby Farm Trail, Shepard Road Trail and the Gateway Trail. Social ride no-one left behind, usually have halfway break and eat after ride at Hudy's Cafe or other options. 4 WED 6:00 PM A 30-45 mi. Midtown Challenge Group - Mapless. Depart from Midtown Bike Center - Freewheel- On the Midtown Greenway 10th Ave South and 29th Street. Various routes and distance as the days grow longer. Some are flat and senic some are hilly with multiple turns. but none are boring and neither is the group. We ride at an "A" pace and will work to keep the group together. Wind and weather dictate distance and route. Come prepared with a bike in good working condition and you will enjoy the workout you receive. 5 THU 8:30 AM B 40/52 mi. Thursdays on the Cannon. Depart from Welch Village Trailhead (Goodhue County 7, three miles south of Hwy. 61). We’ll ride the Cannon River Valley trail west to Cannon Falls, then east to Red Wing and back to Welch (with an option to add the 6-mile Hay Creek trail and back for 12 additional miles). 5 THU 10:00 AM B 26-41 mi. A Fresh Start (Shoreview Mall). Depart from Fresh & Natural Foods, 1075 MN Co Rd 96, St Paul 55126 (at Lexington Av). A very pleasant ride depending on the weather, passing many lakes and streams, on flat and smooth roads, wide shoulders,low traffic, wide sweeping turns and infrequent stops. Usually, an easy shortcut provides a connection to the rest of the route for a shorter option. Great reststops and variations on the route. This is a loop ride thru Shoreview, Circle Pines, Lino Lakes, Rice Creek area, Centerville, and Hugo ie. Ramsey, Anoka, and Washington Counties. Mapless, but with a cue sheet. I am honored that many faster riders frequent the ride and finish in less time. The shortcut riders frequently end around 12:15- 12:30 riding a B pace and the other riders end at 1:00 riding a B pace. The route distances listed are not absolute and vary from week to week. 5 THU 5:00 PM A/B 30 mi. Ride From The Big O. Depart from Omnium Bike Shop, 520 Selby Avenue, Saint Paul, MN 55102. The nice mix of urban cycling in bike lanes and on trails in Saint Paul and surrounding suburbs. Routes will vary. 5 THU 5:30 PM A/B 25-35 mi. Midtown Adventures. Depart from Midtown Bike Center -Freewheel- on the Midtown Greenway 10th Ave South and 29th Street. Routes will vary weekly with weather and wind direction being the determining factor. Map is available for these rides. Some routes can have multiple turns, hills, traffic and some just flat out flat. But NONE have boring ride leaders... Routes are designed to take you on different combination of roads and trails in the metro area each week and rarely repeating the same route, unless it is the only map I have on hand. 6 FRI 1:00 PM C 20-25 mi. Trempealeau Trails Ride (Mapless). Depart from Great River trailhead on Wi 35 in Trempealeau, WI (East side of town). This will be a slow paced ride with lots of stopping to view birds and scenery. We will ride on crushed limestone trails, paved back roads, and hardpack gravel as we tour the surrounding area. 6 FRI 5:00 PM B 24 mi. Weekend Warmup. Depart from Ride departs from St. John's parking lot in Vermillion, Minnesota. Please park on the street or at the City Park on Park Ave. and Mill St. Relax from the week and get ready for the weekend! An enjoyable rural ride from Vermillion to Hastings and back. Flat to gentle hills on smooth rural low traffic roads with wide shoulders (Dakota Co. 62, Co. 47) and Hastings Trail System along the beautiful Vermillion and Mississippi Rivers through downtown to the dam and levy. Social stop for tea/coffee/ice cream in Hastings then back to Vermillion. Ride departs from St. John's parking lot in Vermillion, Minnesota. 7 SAT 7:00 AM A 60-80-100+ mi. Dunn Early - Group, Mapless Now 7a. Depart from Dunn Bros Coffee East Lake Street and West River Road Minneapolis. A Fast challenging group ride up to 100 or so miles encouraging riders to work together to accomplish the goal for the day. We will ride to destinations in Wisconsin and outside the metro area and generally with one rest stop along the way. Rides are geared for those familiar with good group and biking skills but not mandatory. If questions please call the leader, we encourage those wishing to challenge themselves to join us. 7 SAT 7:00 AM 30/60 mi. Bike MS 2011 Allianz Twin Cities Ride. Depart from Aldrich Arena, Maplewood. NON-TCBC RIDE - Ride along the Gateway Trail that starts and ends at Aldrich Arena. Registration fee is $20 (fee goes up after 3/31) which includes a commemorative ride T-shirt, 2 meals, food and drinks at rest stops, mechanical and medical support, police support, support vans, entertainment and much more! 7 SAT 7:00 AM R 125/190 mi. 200k/300k Brevet - Rochester. Depart from North end of Walmart parking lot on 55st, just west off US-52 in Rochester. Riders have the choice of either a 200k or 300k route. The 200k ride is a pleasant tour through Stewartville, Chatfield, Wykoff and return to Rochester. This ride has a wide variety of routes and will have some new ones added this year. Start the weekend out right with a good ride with a variety terrain and scenery. Try out a new route that covers the full length of the Gateway Trail, but in two halves. We'll ride the western half of the Gateway first, starting from Gateway Cycle heading towards St. Paul to trail's end at Cayuga Street. Then we'll go west to Como Lake, followed by north on Victoria and Centerville Road to Bald Eagle Lake. The 51 mile route then goes east to Pine Point Park where we'll pick up the eastern half of the Gateway trail near Stillwater, and head back to Gateway Cycle. Try out a new route that covers the full length of the Gateway Trail, but in two halves. We'll ride the western half of the Gateway first, starting from Gateway Cycle heading towards St. Paul to trail's end at Cayuga Street. Then we'll go west to Como Lake, followed by north on Victoria and Centerville Road to Bald Eagle Lake. The 51 mile route then goes east to Pine Point Park where we'll pick up the eastern half of the Gateway trail near Stillwater, and head back to Gateway Cycle. Not to be confused with the "Diamond Bluff Express", this route has some climbs, like each side of Beldenville, and scenic Werner "Hill", but also a remarkable number of downhills (!), and of course lots of pleasant Wisconsin riding, including County Roads O and even a little County OO (not necessarily pronounced "Uh-Oh"). Depart from Erik's Bike Shop, OVERFLOW parking lot located at 2965 Texas Ave S, 55426, in the Texa-Tonka shopping center, ACROSS FROM THE SHOP at the intersection of Minnetonka Blvd and Texas Ave (east of 169 by about a mile on Minnetonka Blvd) in St Louis Park. I am helping Mike Beadles out this year to continue this ride for those that want to log around 40 miles on a Wednesday evening (this ride plus the 6:30 ride). This is a short and easy ride primarily on bike paths with easy terrain (no hills). Ride should conclude around 6:00pm in time to join Mike’s 6:30 ride at the same location allowing some socialization with the 6:30 riders. This ride is mapless with extremely easy routes. If Mike Beadles changes his 6:30pm ride start time, this ride’s start time will also change so that there is an hour and 45 minutes difference between the two rides. Usually, an easy shortcut provides a connection to the rest of the route for a shorter option. Great reststops and variations on the route. We typically ride south through Maple Grove into Plymouth, then loop back west and north through Medina, Hamel and Corcoran. We're kicking it up a notch to an A/B ride this year! 31 TUE 6:15 PM A/B 36/33/29/23 mi. THE ACAPULCO RIDE (Stillwater). Depart from The Valley Ridge Mall, Stillwater. From I-694, go east 6.5 mi on Hwy 36. Left on Washington Ave. Prompt right on frontage road 1/4 mile to the Acapulco Restaurant, 1240 West Frontage Road, 55082. The Acapulco Ride features a flat beginning and end, with Afton's beautiful hills in between. As always, the leader will set an easy pace for the first three miles to ensure a proper warm-up for all. We encourage riders to form multiple groups based on ability level. Doing so offers participants a better chance to enjoy a "true" group experience. After all, isn't that why we do club rides? Dinner/refreshments afterward- on the patio when weather permits. If rain is predicted, ride may be canceled at the leaders discretion, so call ahead if in doubt. Hope to see you there!
