Watch the setting sun as we explore parts of northern Dakota County and Fort Snelling Park on this early autumn Night Ride. The route will use a mix of trails and roads. Follow signs to Visitor Center parking lot. We will be biking on paved Regional Trail along east side of Medicine Lake to Parkers Lake and surrounding neighborhoods with lunch/rest stop in Golden Valley. 6-7 SAT 10:30 AM & SUN 9:30 AM A/B CRUISIN' THE COULEES OVERNIGHT. Once again, we'll play in the fall colors along the magnificent back roads in Wisconsin Coulee Country. The Saturday ride options of 74, 60 (or 57 less hilly) miles will depart from Pepin, WI at 10:30 AM. In Pepin, turn right on Prairie St. Go two blocks to 1st St. Turn left and park straight ahead in the lot along the R.R. tracks opposite the Pickle Factory Restaurant. After the ride, we'll clean up and then sit down to a wonderful dinner. Details of this dinner will come later in the online TCBC Newsgroups. We'll stay overnight in Pepin at The Pepin Motel (715) 442-2012. The traditional Sunday breakfast (very good!) will be in Alma, WI (about 15 miles south of Pepin) at the Pier 4 Cafe, 600 North Main St (Hwy 35). It's located one block north of the Lock and Dam #4 parking lot. Please join us there around 8:00 AM. On Sunday, you'll have options of 82, 70 or 42 miles departing from the Lock and Dam lot in Alma at 9:30 AM. Please park on the street, not in the lot. 7 SUN 1:30 PM B 32-38 mi. CANDY APPLE GRAY. Depart from Ramsey Beach, on Hwy 96 just east of Highway 61, White Bear Lake. Same start location, different route, different orchard. Explore some rolling hills on route to an apple bakery for apple pie, cookies, and turnovers. Faster riders welcomed so long as they leave some apple treats for the leader. This will be a nice, easy ride on the roads and (mainly) trails of Brooklyn Park, Brooklyn Center, and north Minneapolis. We will start from the college (please park in the WEST lot, SOUTH side, near the ball fields), head to the Coon Rapids Dam, then south along the Mississippi Corridor Trail, cross at 694, continue south along the west side of the river, then swing back north on the Shingle Creek bike trail. From intersection Hwy 7 and Hwy 101 (stoplight in Minnetonka), go south on Hwy 101 to Excelsior Blvd (about .5 miles). Turn left (east) to Purgatory Park entrance sign (.3 miles) and right to park. Leaving from Blaine we head for Wyoming and then to Lino Lakes then back to Blaine, circle the Carlos avery wildlife area. You might ride some roads that you have not been on before.
