1 SAT 7:00 AM A 60-80-100+ mi. Dunn Early - Group, Mapless. Depart from Dunn Bros Coffee East Lake Street and West River Road Minneapolis. A Fast challenging group ride up to 100 or so miles encouraging riders to work together to accomplish the goal for the day. We will ride to destinations in Wisconsin and outside the metro area and generally with one rest stop along the way. 1 SAT 8:00 AM Randonneur 129 Nelson 200k Challenge. Depart from Backwaters Saloon in Nelson, Wi, right across the Mississippi from Wabasha. Corner of SH-25 and SH-25. Park in the back of the lot. Your last change to test your hill climbing mettle on some of Wisconsin's most challenging climbs, several in the 15-24% range, for a total of 11,000' of climbing over 129 miles. This is a RUSA certified brevet or you can just ride for TCBC mileage credit. You do not need to be a RUSA member. Backwaters restaurant is open at 6:30a for breakfast with refreshments and food available after the ride. There is a 90 mile bailout option that will cut the hill climbing in half. 1 SAT 8:30 AM C 21/31 mi. BIKE TO BREAKFAST: NORTH BY NORTH OAKS. Depart from Centennial Church. 1524 West County Road C2, Roseville, corner of C2 and Snelling. The destination is Taste of Scandinavia in North Oaks. Along the way view the watershed and lakes that provide St. Paul's water. There are a few hills and a 3/4 mile stretch of crushed limestone trail. An optional loop from the starting point around Lake Como completes the 31-mile ride. 1 SAT 9:00 AM A/B 55 to 65 mi. options Biking in Grand Rapids Day 2-Fall Colors Ride on the Range. Depart from Nashwauk or Hibbing-Final Details to follow as I firm up the route. This route will start in Nashwauk or Hibbing more info to follow: The Hibbing route is 64 miles taking us east on the Mesabi Trail into Virginia and Eveleth and coming back via beautiful county back roads into Hibbing. 1 SAT 9:00 AM B 56 with options of 68 & 81 mi. Cruisin' the Crow - 2011. Depart from Epic Grind Bicycle-Coffee Shop, 315 East Lake St. Suite 101, Wayzata. Underground parking entrance off Manitoba Ave - just east of the Epic Grind. Less hills and more trails for 2011... Leaving Wayzata, we will bike on country roads with few turns as we make our way out to the Crow River in Delano… For extra miles, AB riders may enjoy two additional loops, passing through Rockford and Hanover. Rest stop in Delano will be at the Three Crows Café & Coffee House… Enjoy the local “jam session” while you refresh… Everyone will return via Watertown, which can include another great stop at the Crow River Coffee Company. The new route also passes through the town of Mayer, where we will pick up the scenic Dakota Rail extension, which “touches” lake Waconia, for a straight shot back to Wayzata. Additional stops are available at Ron's Smokehouse in Mayer or the Minnetonka Drive Inn, located along the trail. Depart from Grandview Park, I-94 East to Wisconsin Exit 2, north on Carmichael for 2 miles, park is on east side of road across the street from the St. Croix Government Center. Enjoy the first fall Saturday in October with your biking friends in bike friendly Wisconsin. We will traverse the quiet country roads of St. Croix County on a Saturday morning. 2 SUN 9:00 AM A/B 50 to 65 mi. options Biking in Grand Rapids Day 3-Fall Colors Ride on the Range. Depart from Ogle’s Supermarket 503 NW 4th Street (aka Hwy 2) Grand Rapids, MN 55744 Overflow Parking lot north of the supermarket on 5th St. NW. We will head east on the Mesabi Trail from the Itasca County Fairgrounds out to Hill Annex Mine State Park and on to Nashwauk. From Nashwauk we will take some rural country roads through Balsam, Lawrence, Wabana, and Deer River Townships through the Chippewa National Forest on our way back to Grand Rapids. We will travel on the Edge of the Wilderness Scenic Byway for a few miles. Depart from CARS Bike Shop, 2661 West County Road I, Mounds View, MN 55112 - Behind the Burger King on the SW corner of County Road I and County Road 10 (not to be confused with US 10). Start your morning on the north end of town with an invigorating ride past LOTSA lakes. New for 2011 is a metric century option with three new lakes! The routes begin east and north through the Rice Creek chain of lakes to Centerville, and then turn south & east towards Bald Eagle, White Bear, Jane, De Montreville and Olsen lakes before returning to CARS Bike Shop via Vadnais, Owasso, Valentine & Long lakes. 4 TUE 10:00 AM A/B 26-73 mi. Gateway Express. Depart from Maplewood Community Center, 2100 White Bear Ave., Maplewood,MN, 55109. Please park on the south end of the parking lot. Water and restrooms available at the community center. This ride features the Gateway Trail, a scenic, shaded, and little wind trail. The ride has extensions into scenic Washington County. The easiest ride is doing the Gateway Trail out to Pine Point and back-26 mi. A 73 mi. route to Osceola, WI., or other shorter routes. Ride leader chooses which extensions to ride. 4 TUE 10:15 AM C 24 mi. Metro Meander to St. Paul. Depart from Minnehaha Falls parking lot above the pavilion. Paid parking or park free on the streets. This will be a leisurely autumn color ride on streets and trails to St. Paul. We will stop for lunch at the Wabasha Deli and will return to Minnehaha Falls via Lillydale, the Big Rivers Trail and old Fort Snelling. Depart from CARS Bike Shop, 2661 West County Road I, Mounds View, MN 55112 - Behind the Burger King on the SW corner of County Road I and County Road 10 (not to be confused with US 10). There are now three routes for Wednesdays departing from the CARS Bike Shop: [1] "CARS, Bikes and Lakes" (traditional route), [2] "Cruisin' From CARS" (Forest Lake) and [3] "CARS, Bikes and Rivers (Mississippi & Rum Rivers)". 5 WED 10:00 AM C 25/30 mi. Operation American Legion without the Commander. Depart from Veteran's Park, 64th Park & Portland Avenue South in Richfield (south of 62nd Crosstown). We will be checking out fall colors on the city streets and trails from Richfield to St. Paul and back. There will be a "light" refreshment stop. Bring snacks and water. 5 WED 10:30 AM A/B 40 - 65, multiple options Wilds of WI Challenge. Depart from Weitkamp City Park on O'Neil Rd. Take I-94 to exit 2 (Carmichael Rd) in Hudson. South on Carmichael .6 mi, left on Hanley Rd .5 mi, left on O'Neil .1 mi to Pk on W side of rd. This ride is NOT WEEKLY anymore, so you MUST CHECK the web schedule. This year the ride will be offered many Wednesdays, but not all. If you're up to the CHALLENGE of this up & down format, you'll find scenic traffic-free roads that will be the HIGHLIGHT of your week. Group ride for as many miles as we can get in before dark as we will ride to the edge of darkness. The distance will lessen as the days grow dim. Routes will vary from week to week and pace is determined by those who show up for the ride. Strong AB Riders are welcome to join the group. 6 THU 9:30 AM B 33-40 mi. A Fresh Start (Shoreview). Depart from Shoreview Mall, Lexington and 96. After many times on this route it has become highly refined. Smooth, Scenic, wide shoulders, with miles between most stops, a very pleasant outdoor rest stop at Dunn Bros/Fairway Foods in Hugo. Restrooms at ridestart. 6 THU 10:00 AM B/C 30-35 mi. Maple Grove Meandering Trails to Elm Creek. Depart from Fish Lake Regional Park, Maple Grove. From Hwy 494 take CR 10(Bass Lake Rd) west 1 mile to park entrance on the right. Drive to the parking lot closest to the Pavilion. This is a beautiful ride on paved trails to and around Elm Creek Reg Park. Pack lots of water and snacks. Rest stop near the Nature Center, which is being rebuilt. There will be rolling hills. 6 THU 10:00 AM B 28-35 mi. Apple Time! (Dellwood). Depart from Pine Tree Apple Orchard, 450 Apple Orchard Road, Dellwood, MN 55110. For directions, view the map on their website - http://www.pinetreeappleorchard-dot-com/. Experience the whole of the apple season this year with a weekly ride from one of the area's most popular orchards. We'll start at Pine Tree Orchard and ride one of three routes in the White Bear Lake or Withrow areas before returning. Rest stop varies with route, but don't eat too much as we will visit the Pine Tree dessert café after the ride for a slice of the best apple pie in town, or one of their legendary apple rollovers. Take home a few apples, too. Do NOT park in the small lot in front of the main building. Instead, park on the other side of the road in their very large, grassy parking area.
