Outreach Ride Section
These special category rides are non-TCBC rides that are eligible for TCBC mileage credit, but are not covered by TCBC insurance. Outreach rides are designed to increase our members’ visibility in and support of non-pledge biking events in the broader biking community. A TCBC leader will be present at qualifying Outreach Rides to give a ride briefing and allow members to sign up for mileage, but it is the sole responsibility of participating members to sign up for and pay the registration fee for the event. The organizers of the event are solely responsible for its quality and safety. Members are strongly encouraged to wear their TCBC jerseys when participating in Outreach Rides. Here is the list of Outreach Rides scheduled:

The advance outreach ride cost is $15 for one day; $25 for two days. Day-of-ride registration is accepted, but more. Also, make your own lodging arrangements. Draft Horse Inn Arcadia, Wi (17 mi from Whitehall ride start)
FUN: Enough blather, let's get to the FUN. Within a couple hours drive from the Twin Cities, you'll feel like you're in another world where time has slowed. Pastoral hillsides, quiet, low-traffic roads, and bovine sightings are the norm. Homemade ice cream, homemade wine, and homemade jams and crafts available. Sounds like a Ben & Jerry's ad, but it's much closer to home. The roads and scenery are every bit as spectacular as Brainerd, but definitely NOT as flat. You really should give it a try.
SEPT 30: NORTH HENNEPIN COMMUNITY COLLEGE TATER TOUR
The potato, though not pretty or poetic, seems to have earned its place in the identity of North Hennepin Community College (NHCC) as well as the in the hearts of the community. NHCC sits on property once farmed by generations of potato farmers in Brooklyn Park. A commemorative bell tower on campus represents the area’s proud agricultural heritage. The NHCC logo incorporates a stylized potato blossom atop a star and open books, and each year the NHCC Foundation serves a potato bar to the college employees for financially supporting student scholarships. So, what better name for this ride than the “Tater Tour”?
NHCC is celebrating 40 years of service to the community. This ride is one of many activities designed to create awareness for our presence in the community and raise money for student scholarships in the process. Deb Matchinsky, TCBC member, will be your ride leader, so mileage credit is available. (FYI, Deb is a Psychology Instructor at NHCC.)
The ride is Sept. 30 and starts in the west parking lot of the NHCC campus. Check-in is 7:30 – 9:00 a.m. – 55 mile route and 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. – 15 & 25 mile routes. The cost is $25 per rider/$45 per household. Routes will run from Brooklyn Park through the Elm Creek Park Reserve.
This outreach ride is designed to accommodate riders of all levels and families are encouraged to participate. You do not need to be a TCBC member to participate. Also, free commemorative wicking shirts are given to riders registering by Sept. 1. For those registering after Sept. 1, shirts can be purchased for $15 each. (Limit of 2 free shirts per household registration.)
