5 TUE 5:45 PM A/B 36/29/24 mi. THE ACAPULCO RIDE. NOTE EARLIER DEPARTURE; miles will decrease as daylight lessens. Depart from the Acapulco Restaurant, 1240 North Frontage Road (of Hwy. 36) in Stillwater. From I-694, take Hwy 36 east for 6.5 miles. Turn left on Washington Av (first stoplight past the Hwy 5 overpass). Take an immediate right on the frontage road for 1/4 mile to the Valley Ridge Mall and Acapulco Restaurant on the left. Dump the traffic! Relax on shaded serpentine roads to Afton. Enjoy a taco or two after. Rain may force cancellation of the ride at the leader’s discretion, but we can still eat! Call me if in doubt. Take a right on Cty 3 through Cty 52 and a left on 209 N to Community Center lot on right. We'll scamper on paved back roads and trails through Scandia and Marine-on-St Croix, with rest stops en route and optional lunch in Scandia (20 mi point). Riders have choice of routes and may ride one or all for up to 32 miles of mostly gently rolling back roads through Scandia and Marine-on-St. Croix. Routes will be marked and maps provided. This ride will not have a group start; riders may start between 9:30-10:30 AM. Stay after the ride for food and festivities at Scandia's Annual Taco Daze Celebration. 26 TUE 5:45 PM A/B 36/29/24 mi. THE ACAPULCO RIDE. NOTE EARLIER DEPARTURE; miles will decrease as daylight lessens. Depart from the Acapulco Restaurant, 1240 North Frontage Road (of Hwy. 36) in Stillwater. From I-694, take Hwy 36 east for 6.5 miles. Turn left on Washington Av (first stoplight past the Hwy 5 overpass). Take an immediate right on the frontage road for 1/4 mile to the Valley Ridge Mall and Acapulco Restaurant on the left. Dump the traffic! Relax on shaded serpentine roads to Afton. Enjoy a taco or two after. Rain may force cancellation of the ride at the leader’s discretion, but we can still eat! Call me if in doubt. 26 TUE 6:00 PM N 25 mi. SIGHTS OF THE HEIGHTS. Depart from Mendota Plaza, less than 1 mile east of 35E on Hwy 110 and Dodd Rd in Mendota Heights. Nighttime excursion around Mendota Heights and the surrounding areas. Routes will include many trail segments as well as some roads. Front and rear lights required. With the Whole Enchilada on hiatus lets go Italian! We'll ride quite a few trails on this route with some gravel stretches that might not be suitable for road bikes. Take 394/12 west through Long Lake to Old Crystal Bay Rd, left to Watertown Rd, right to Stubbs Bay Rd, left to parking. Ride the crushed limestone Luce Line Trail and county roads to Lake Rebecca Park Reserve for The Raptor Center's Fall Raptor Release. At this festive event, volunteers set free eagles, hawks, falcons, and owls restored to health at the center. Enjoy educational displays about the birds we see so often as we ride. Cross into Wisconsin at Prescott or Red Wing and take WI 35 south to the town of Maiden Rock on Lake Pepin, then turn towards the river on Chestnut St. Challenging hills and little-traveled rural roads.
