Depart from CARS Bike Shop, 2661 West County Road I, Mounds View, MN 55112 - Behind the Burger King on the SW corner of County Road I and County Road 10 (not to be confused with US 10). Start your Wednesday on the north end of town with an invigorating ride past LOTSA lakes. There are 3 mileage options at 34, 42 and 50 miles. The routes begin east and north through the Rice Creek chain of lakes, and then turn south & east towards Bald Eagle & White Bear lakes before returning to CARS Bike Shop via Vadnais, Owasso, Valentine & Long lakes. Park in the CARS Bike Shop lot. Self sufficient B riders are most welcome. Excellent cue sheets and maps are available at the ride, or beforehand at www.bobswebplace-dot-org. Restrooms available at ride start - Caribou Coffee, SuperAmerica and Burger King. A very pleasant ride depending on the weather, passing many lakes and streams, on flat and smooth roads, wide shoulders,low traffic, wide sweeping turns and infrequent stops. Usually, an easy shortcut provides a connection to the rest of the route for a shorter option. Great reststops and variations on the route. This is a loop ride thru Shoreview, Circle Pines, Lino Lakes, Rice Creek area, Centerville, and Hugo ie. Ramsey, Anoka, and Washington Counties. Mapless, but with a cue sheet. I am honored that many faster riders frequent the ride and finish in less time. No restrooms at the start; they are open in the Visitor Center after the ride, assuming you make it back. There is a petrol stations as you enter WI. After passing through the park we will follow the trail through the old Army Ammunition Plant. After a break at McDonald's in Mounds View for the leader's senior coffee we will ride the Rice Creek Regional West Trail and finally make our way back past Long Lake, Valentine Lake and Lake Johanna. The easiest ride is doing the Gateway Trail out to Pine Point and back-26 mi. A 73 mi. route to Osceola, WI., or other shorter routes. Ride leader choses which extensions to ride.
