The desire of this hopefully recurring Saturday ride is to encourage TCBC members and TCBC Leaders to bring out their FAT or Mountain bikes during this coming winter! Mountain Bikes are certainly welcome if you don't yet have a FAT bike. However, please remember that the TCBC ride type of Mountain Bike rides are for TCBC Members Only - due to Insurance Coverage reasons. A couple TCBC Leaders are considering a recurring rotating-location series of Fat Bike Rides this coming Winter season, be it sunshine or snow, rotating between all the Great Fat Bike Trail locations all around the Twin Cities and Western Wisconsin areas. The plan is to - gather at the various rotating locations starting location, have the standard TCBC Ride Leader briefing, gather into a group choice that you will be comfortable with, then off to as far as you'd like to go, hoping there will be more than one group to choose from, to pick the speed and/or trail type that you would like to ride with each other. Then join back at the ride start after say, an hour or two, then we'd talk about what each rider would want to do next (or to be done), to talk about what went well, if some want to continue to ride more, where to go following week(s), what kind of snow is in the forecast, which trail system is good at managing snowpack conditions, etc. I have high hopes for this ride, and welcome other leaders to co-lead as well, especially as there may be multiple and various skilled rider groups. Here's a tip I've heard from previous River Bottoms MTB bikers - bring a second pair of gloves to use on the water-soaked rope (it will be in the river) to pull the raft across the Nine Mile Creek.
