  • FRIDAY RIDE

For those of you coming for Friday’s ride, the ride will begin from the city park in Fountain City, Wisconsin, located at the intersection of WI35 (Main Street) and Bishop Street. From the Twin Cities on US61, either cross the river at MN60 near Kellogg and come south on WI35, or use the MN43 bridge from Winona. From I90, use the MN43 North exit (Exit 252) towards Winona, and follow MN43 over the bridge. Turn left on WI35 and follow to Fountain City.

The ride will begin at 2:30, and features routes of 35 or 45 miles. No pre-registration is required.

  • RIDE START LOCATION

To reach Winona, follow US61 from the Twin Cities to Winona, then turn left on Huff Street, or use US52 to I90 East. Exit at MN43 North (Exit 252) towards Winona. Follow MN43 to US61 and turn left, then turn right on Huff Street.

A campus map of Winona State University can be found at http://www.winona.edu/Parking/files/Main_Campus_Map.pdf. Sarnia Street is at the bottom of the map. We are welcome to park in the North Silver Lot #19 for breakfast.Rides will start from the North Silver Lot #19 promptly at 9:30. The 9:30 time is the time we will roll. Please arrive earlier to get signed in, get a map, and enjoy a briefing on the routes. The first rest stops, at approximately 16 miles on Saturday and 13 miles on Sunday, will not be available until approximately 9:50 AM.

  • ROUTE PROFILES

Saturday: The 35 mile route features one climb and one descent, with rollers making up the rest of the route, providing a taste of the Winona bluff country and fantastic country views. The 62 and 100 mile routes both contain several additional climbs, with splendid rural scenery.

Sunday: The 25 mile route contains only rollers. All three routes will stop at the Pickwick Mill, a local historic site, before the routes diverge. Those who continue on the 39 and 62 mile routes will climb out of the valley on a gradual climb. The 39 mile route will turn east, while the 62 mile route continues south along the Apple Blossom Parkway, offering a fabulous view of the Mississippi River, before returning north to rejoin the 39 mile route back to Winona.

  • REST STOPS

Most rest stops are gas stations and other suitable places along the route, although there will be a semi-supported rest stop as the first stop both Saturday and Sunday. We will have Gatorade and carry-along snacks available at the ride start and at the first rest stop each day. Plan accordingly for other rest stops, depending on the ride distance you plan to complete. (Country gas stations and ice cream shops prefer cash!)

For those riding the longer routes, it is highlyrecommended that people travel with two water bottles or other hydration apparatus. Routes are rural in nature, and it is August – enough said!
