Dick’s Last Ride
A Voss Epic Adventure
Dick Voss pulled into the ride finish point around 11:25 p.m., Monday, December 5, 2016. It was a long, tough ride fraught with hills, headwinds, stormy weather and maybe even a flat or two. Did I mention wrong turns? In spite of all that, Dick bravely pedaled on and even managed to maintain a sense of humor through it all. He had many friends and family who formed a paceline and helped pull him through the toughest spots. There were also many non-bikers who cheered him on and gave him encouragement from alongside the route.
Dick was a well-known TCBC Member and Ride Leader for many years and was always happy and proud to be near the top of the mileage statistics. His smile, chuckle, enthusiasm, sense of humor and sometimes goofy remarks will be missed but not forgotten. His rides here with us are done but will most certainly continue on the spiritual roads beyond.
Dick was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, and there will be an Honor Guard flag presentation following Mass.
Dick’s Snowbird friends in the Phoenix, AZ, area will also stage a bike ride in his memory on Dec. 12 at 11 a.m. MST. It’ll be a relaxed 25 miler featuring shared memories of Dick and a stop at one of his favorite eating places in Tempe – the Cornish Pasty Company. Any who are interested and are in the Phoenix area then may call Jeff Ramberg at 612-462-4747 for more information.
